Most jumping castle accidents involve anchoring failures. Wind catches an under-anchored castle, lifts it, and someone gets hurt — often a non-occupant standing nearby.
SA Jumping Castles vendors must meet a documented anchoring standard before they're approved on the platform:
- On lawn: minimum 6 stakes (8 for combos), each driven 30cm into the ground at a 45° angle inward.
- On paving: minimum 6 weighted sandbags (15kg each, 8 for combos) clipped to the castle's anchor straps. Weights are vendor-supplied; never optional.
- On a tarp / mixed surface: hybrid of stakes (where possible) and weights. The weakest anchor point must still hold against a 35 km/h gust.
Our wind-speed cut-off is 25 km/h sustained at the castle's height. Above that, vendors don't set up — even if the booking is paid. We absorb the cancellation cost; the customer keeps the credit.
